Slow Coast Intimate Wedding / Davenport, California

I could tell right away that Mary and Doug were a special couple even though I didn’t get to meet them in person for a long time. This sweet Portland couple told me about their dream for an intimate, meaningful wedding on the coast over a phone call, and we just clicked. They booked the cozy and rustic Slow Coast lodge and cabin to stay in, and I helped them choose a ceremony spot on the nearby bluffs of Davenport. One reason I loved documenting this wedding day was that they cared most about the right things– making it meaningful and keeping it simple. After their coastal ceremony, the small group gathered together for an intimate, catered dinner on the porch back at Slow Coast. Heartfelt toasts and funny stories were shared as the sun went down. What a privilege it was to witness and document this day filled with laughter and happy tears!

Slow Coast Lodge and Cabin turned out to be such a sweet place for an intimate gathering like this. The sunny farm-like setting is nestled back along the edge of a redwood grove about 15 minutes from the Davenport coastline. When you’re there you feel like you’re in the middle of nowhere, but you’re actually pretty close to civilization. The main lodge has several bedrooms, a large living room and large kitchen. Behind the lodge is a small comfortable cabin with a little kitchen and the coolest vintage vibe. If you rent this property out, you could even hold a wedding ceremony right there next to the lodge in a pretty green setting.
