Ventana Big Sur Elopement

Claire and Sarah made the journey from Long Beach to Big Sur for their intimate destination elopement with six of their closest family members. They got ready together in the same room, which is a sweet and rare thing to witness! Claire and Sarah’s mothers helped them into their dresses and I’m pretty sure everyone was tearing up.

One thing I loved about Sarah and Claire is how easy going and sweet they were. Originally they were supposed to hold their ceremony in the Cathedral redwood grove you see below, but at the last minute they made a spontaneous decision to change their ceremony location to the sunny “Sur Vista” patio overlooking the coast. You can’t really go wrong with the scenery in Big Sur!

We spent a while taking portraits in the redwoods before the ceremony. Carly Wise, the incredible hair and makeup artist, stayed with us to offer touch ups along the way. If you’re looking for a great stylist I would absolutely recommend her!

If you’ve never been to Ventana Big Sur, I’ll sum it up by saying it is a gorgeous luxury resort nestled in one of the most beautiful places in the country. The resort is on the edge of a redwood forest, and faces incredible views of the steep, iconic coastline. There are few Big Sur venues or lodges that simultaneously offer sunshine, views and towering trees all in one place. The resort is a great place for both tiny elopements and larger weddings. There are multiple locations to hold ceremonies.

Sarah and Claire’s ceremony was rich with meaningful words exchanged. I loved hearing more about Sarah and Claire’s story together through their vows. What a beautiful place for them to commit forever to each other and celebrate with their loving families!
