Coastal Big Sur Elopement

Krista and Evan had their coastal Big Sur elopement ceremony on a clear November day. My favorite part of the day was seeing how Krista’s daughter, Evie, watched with pure joy as her mom married Evan. During the kiss at the end of the ceremony, Evie clasped her hands together as if she was seeing her dreams come true before her eyes. These are the kinds of moments I hold my breath through behind my camera as a focus intensely on capturing every emotion!

This couple cried and laughed all the way through way through the first look, ceremony and portraits. They threw their shoes off, accepted the wind, and were not afraid to get dirty on the beach. They were rewarded with one of the most beautiful sunsets I’ve experienced in Big Sur!

Krista and Evan were able to keep focused on what was most important about their elopement day throughout the planning process. Twists and turns related to Covid and wildfires threatened their plans. The original plan was to elope in a forest that ended up being in the middle of the Dolan wildfire. The fire shut down all of southern Big Sur for a few months. Nevertheless, we pivoted and pulled off a stunning elopement day.

Sometimes people think it is the backdrop that makes a photo appealing, or a pose- but I think that genuine, uninhibited emotion is what makes the best photos. These two were so clearly wild for each other and I loved capturing those expressive moments!
