Glen Oaks Big Sur Forest Elopement

Jan and Maks flew in all the way from Toronto to elope under the towering redwoods of Big Sur. They chose to stay at Glen Oaks Big Sur in a little cabin, and also elope right there on the premises. It was a unique experience to be able to walk right out of their front door and over to the perfect grove of redwoods in less than a couple of minutes. Jan and Maks’ classic clothing made them look like stars in golden era hollywood. It was already magical enough, but the warm august air completed the scene for their romantic elopement ceremony.

One of my favorite parts of the day was when Maks saw Jan all dressed up for the first time that day. He waited at the bend of a trail for Jan to meet him in the redwoods. As you’ll see in the following photos, it was a stunning and emotional scene to watch Jan walk down the path toward her soon-to-be husband. When Jan saw Maks in his suit, her first words “you look like James Bond!” …and he totally did.

Denise Adkins led their sweet, custom ceremony shortly after their first look. Jan and Maks read personalized vows that made it hard for the videographer and me to keep back the tears. After the two were wed, we all piled in my car and drove north to Garrapata beach to enjoy the sunset and pop champagne on an overlook.
