Bohemian San Juan Bautista Wedding

Drew and Brooke held a colorful, bohemian fall wedding in sunny San Juan Bautista, California. The wedding took place at Jardines de San Juan, which is a Mexican restaurant with a gorgeous garden area for private events. Abundant succulents, cacti and all kinds of lush greenery made a beautiful setting for these partiers!

I work with all kinds of couples and I always love the surprise of what a wedding day will feel like with each couple. Brooke and Drew were carefree and all about having a very laid back and loud party with their awesome group of friends and family. They embraced certain wedding traditions that were important to them, but approached everything with a fun and informal attitude. For instance, guests were greeted with a welcome table that served as a tequila shot station. “Take a shot and take your seat” read the sign. It was clear to everyone arriving that they were about to have a ton of fun!

During the reception I used my flash as little as possible. I did this because I wanted to preserve the mood of the environment and keep from being a distraction in the moment. I value the experience my clients and their guests have very highly. Because of that, I try my best to photograph in a way that keeps folks’ attention on the moment at hand and not on me or my camera! As a result, I’m able to capture even more honest, candid moments. My main objective is to make honest images because they will help folks return to those emotions and moments even decades later.
