A & S / Woodside Private Estate Wedding
Amelia and Simon were married on charming private estate near Woodside, California. The estate has 100 acres of rolling gold hills filled with oak trees, trails and larger-than-life sculptural art at every turn. It was the perfect wedding venue for one of my most adventurous couples of the year, Amelia and Simon.
I know Amelia and Simon through the worlds of hiking adventures and Lindy Hop. By chance, I ran into a tribe of Lindy Hoppers while I was backpacking through the Sierras several years back, and I’ll never forget the spontaneous dance party we threw at 10,000 feet elevation at Purple Lake on the John Muir Trail. It wasn’t long before a thunderstorm rained out our rock-instrument dance jam, but I’m so glad I met those adventurers. Now years later, I was thrilled when one of those dancer-hiker-adventurers asked me to photograph his wedding. Now they are off on a #vanlife honeymoon, exploring beautiful places in the van they converted. And I am SO JEALOUS!
Amelia’s and Simon’s wedding really was a dream come true. Amelia artfully crafted the most gorgeous table settings and escort cards by herself. Simon’s brother gave an emotional speech that left me in tears. And together, Simon and Amelia showed so much gratitude for each other and their guests that day. I was seriously moved. Plus, it’s not everyday that I get to lindy hop and hike at work!
